Church History of
Greater Bethesda Life Church

In November of 2018, Pastor Sam Knolton, Jr. accepted the call to serve as the Senior Pastor of what was then known as Greater Bethesda Healing Springs Church. This divine appointment allowed Pastor Knolton—affectionately known as Pastor Sam—to walk in the footsteps of his late father, Elder Sam Knolton, Sr., continuing a legacy of faith, leadership, and service.

In January of 2019, Pastor Sam was officially installed as Senior Pastor by Bishop Michael Hill. One of his first transformative acts was renaming the church to Greater Bethesda Life Church, signifying a renewed vision and a commitment to spiritual growth, community outreach, and Kingdom impact.

Growth and Impact (2018-Present)

Since Pastor Sam’s leadership began, Greater Bethesda Life Church has experienced tremendous growth, both spiritually and numerically. Under his guidance, the church has:

  • Navigated Through the COVID-19 Pandemic – Providing strength, encouragement, and support to members and the surrounding community during a time of uncertainty and hardship.
  • Undergone a Complete Renovation – The church facility at 25340 Outer Drive, Lincoln Park, Michigan has been beautifully restored, creating a welcoming space for worship, fellowship, and ministry.
  • Expanded Membership – Growing from a small congregation of 5–10 members to nearly 100 dedicated believers.
  • Launched Community Outreach Programs – Including feeding programs and clothing drives, ensuring that those in need receive food, clothing, and essential resources.
  • Strengthened Men's and Women’s Ministries –
    • The M.O.B. (Men of Bethesda) provides a strong brotherhood where men can grow spiritually, develop leadership skills, and serve as pillars of faith in their families and communities.
    • The H2O Women’s Ministry empowers women to flourish in their walk with Christ, offering mentorship, spiritual enrichment, and a supportive sisterhood.
  • Established T.H.R.I.V.E. Youth Ministry – Investing in the next generation through dynamic youth programs, fostering their spiritual growth and leadership development.
  • Experienced Tremendous Growth in Sunday School – One of our greatest joys is seeing our Sunday School expand, with more children, youth, and adults engaging in the study of God’s Word.
